Welcome to Ahimsa Naturopathic

Located in what was once Merrickville’s one room school house ( dating back to 1840!) , nestled in the small town of Merrickville along the Rideau Canal and is known to be quaint, full of artists and the perfect day trip destination.

Here, we treat patients as individuals, using a mixture of dietary and lifestyle counselling, massage, acupuncture, herbal and other natural therapies. We offer yoga and other fitness options seasonally, run wellness related workshops and retreats. We love to work with people who are authentically taking charge of their own health and wellness!

ahimsā - "the law of reverence for, and nonviolence to, every form of life."

A Sanskrit term meaning non-harm or non-violence, ahimsā (a = non, himsā = injury) is a prominent concept in belief systems worldwide. Doing no harm is the first principle of Naturopathic medicine, and  it is a primary tenant in the Hippocratic Oath, traditionally pledged by all health care physicians.  Ahimsa refers not only to the absence of harm, but to adopting an attitude of compassion, care and reverence for oneself, all beings, and for the world in which we live.

From a health perspective, abiding by the 'law' of ahimsa means that we avoid invoking injury or harm, whether through the food we eat, the judgements we make, the way we live, or the treatments we take; treating our bodies, and ourselves, with the same compassion and self-love we would wish on our children or closest friends.
